Root, Powdered from Thailand (SKU 3276)
Finely powdered Pueraria mirifica root, from Thailand.
Pueraria mirifica belongs to the Leguminosae family, and to the subfamily of the Papilionoideae, which is the same family as soy, bean and pea plants. It is a woody climber plant that grows preferably in north-eastern forests of Thailand and Myanmar, at altitudes of 300-800m. The roots are mostly used for preparations of the plant, and look like round-shaped and tuberous bulbs that greatly vary in size and shape, depending on the given environment of cultivation. A single root weights between 60-100kg. Although there are several different names for Pueraria mirifica, it is scientifically called white Kwao Krua, due to the distinct properties of the white subtype. There exist 2 additional subtypes of Pueraria mirifica that are also classified by colour: red (Butea superba), and black (Mucuna collettii). Yet, only the white Pueraria mirifica shows potent estrogenic activity.
