Makko is used as a neutral-scented, naturally combustible, water-soluble, binding ingredient in the creation of incense. Other than making incense into different shapes and formats, and to keep it smoldering, Makko can also be used on its own, to help ignite a trail of fragrant raw materials.

Other names: Machilus thunbergii
