More About Chaliponga (Diplopterys Cabrerana)
Chaliponga is a green shrub native to the Amazon basin and present in the shamanic customs of native groups, especially as an ingredient used in the making of a poly-herbal brew known as Ayahuasca.
The leaves of Chaliponga are believed to offer effects from 2 to 5 times stronger than the leaves of Chacruna, a plant whose leaves are also a common ingredient in Ayahuasca variations.
Diplopterys specimens are rich in DMT, known to procude intense yet brief visual hallucinations. For that very reason, it is used in shamanic rituals to help connect with spirits and ancestors, as well as widening the mind’s eye and evoking clearer visions.
Maya works alongside local communities in Napo, Ecuador, to sustainably plant and harvest Chaliponga leaves.
