Shipibo textile 4386 – 41 x 39 cm.
This beautiful textile has been hand embroidered by a member of the Shipibo tribe.
Each textile is a one off, and has taken many weeks, sometimes months, to complete.
The Shipibo are an indigenous people who reside along the Ucayali river in the Amazonian rainforest of Peru.
They are masters of Ayahuasca, and through the powerful spirit of the vine they can travel to other realms and see visions of plants and spirits. They also visually see the songs of Ayahuasca, the icaros.
The intricate patterns and geometric designs on Shipibo textiles are inspired by these visions, and serve as a wonderful spiritual portal and point for meditation and healing energy.
By buying these textiles we are supporting fair trade for the Shipibo tribe and allowing the ancient traditions to carry on amidst the challenges of the modern world.
