Description
Tigre Vine or Tigre Yage are whole Ayahuasca vines cultivated and harvested ethically and sustainably in a stunning botanical garden in Putumayo, Colombia. Highly praised for its powerful character, these vines grow on the trees as found in the wild. The harvesting process is conducted with respect and gratitude, followed by drying them out naturally under the sun. Due to a limited supply of this special vine, we can only offer limited volumes at any given time.
It is one of thousands of species of plants in tropical South America called Banisteriopsis caapi. Three of these plants are combined with others to produce Ayahuasca. These three plants are Banisteriopsis caapi, Banisteriopsis inebriens, and Banisteriopsis quitensis. Banisteriopsis caapi is the most commonly known species of the three and is used to make Ayahuasca. The B. caapi family of plants has many sub species, depending on the region where the vines grow.
As Banisteriopsis caapi contains only harmaline, which is a reversible MAO inhibitor, it is not hallucinogenic on its own.
Due to its widespread cultivation throughout the Amazonian region, it is difficult to trace its geographical origin. Throughout the millennia, many tribes have used this plant in their religious traditions in Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Equador, Colombia and other countries of the Amazon basin. It grows wild in Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Equador, Colombia, and other countries of the Amazon basin.
This liana grows in tropical forests, either as a shrub or an extensive liana. The bark has a chocolate-brown, smooth texture. The leaves grow opposite each other and are oval-shaped, ranging between 8 to 18 cm long and 3.5 to 8 cm wide with a glabrous upper surface. It spreads both vegetatively and through seeds; the latter being fan-like in shape and green when freshly formed, but browning with age. Additionally, there are axillary or terminal cymose panicles displaying flowers of 12 to 14 mm in diameter and 2.5 to 3 mm long and 1.5 mm wide with pink petals of 5 to 7 mm length and 4 to 5 mm width.
